Sis Dee

TRIBE

It is called tribe but I am Mosotho and I call it malamohodu. Other people call it dikgorolo. I heard that in Upington they call it Gorras. What is so special about it? I just love the food.
I would kill to get a plate full of this with dumbling mmmmmmm... lekker.

I am interested to know what they call it in Nigeria or do they even it or tthrow it away or give it to dogs? I wonder. I intend to find out more.

See you around.

VETKOEK

Vetkoek is one of africa's or should I say worldwide very interesting type of food? All around South Africa there is always a shop or restaurant that sells vetkoeks. I will be bringing you stories about vetkoek, or do you prefer it when it is called fatcake, legwenya, beko or amagwenya.

Stick around for more.

AFRICAN FOOD

Lets talk Ginger beer.

Why is is called beer in the first place? Will see that later.

I just find it very interesting that since growing up, people still think the right to make ginger beer is during Christmas time. Is there any significance? This is one aspect that I will have to explore. Just asking one of my colleagues when do they normally make ginger beer? Her answer is simple and expected, during summer holidays.

Here is the my colleague's recipe for ginger beer.

INGREDIENTS:

Ginger beer powder
water
yeast
raising/grapes
brown sugar
tartaric acid

Here the recipe from the ginger beer packet.

INGREDIENTS
